Winning In Life
Take a few minutes each week and look at all the times you have won in your life. The bet with your grade school friend. The race you won. The soccer game where you made your first goal. The time you passed a test with an A. I challenge you to make a list of them all. Not so you can boast to someone else. Instead use them as an anchor when something really rocks your boat. When it seems you can’t figure it out, it will remind you that you overcame before. So why can’t you do it again?
Maybe this time you will need some help? Who do you know that will know what you don’t know at this time? Who will have the answer to your unanswerable questions? I have heard it said, “We don’t ask for help because we are weak, we ask for help because we want to remain strong. (Les Brown)
Having a list of your strengthes, talents, and abilities can help you overcome the feelings of defeat. Then serve as a reminder to the gifts that God has given you. Victories you have won, talents that you can use in the future. Doing it the right way in your thinking, then acting on what you have done right. So many people try to live based on failure of the past. Using that for an excuse not to try something moving forward. Use your wins to build on. Winning can cause more winning.
Take another mindset on things as well. Failure is not failure unless you give up. Failure is also one of life’s best learning experiences. If we are willing to look back at it and learn what we did wrong and what we did right, and what we need to adjust so we cam more forward.
Here are ten ways you can use your past victories to help you in the future:
Reflect on what worked: Analyze the strategies, actions, and approaches that led to your past successes. Understand what skills, mindset, and resources contributed to those victories, so you can apply them again.
Build confidence: Remind yourself of your capabilities by recalling your past accomplishments. This can boost your self-assurance and motivation to take on new challenges.
Identify strengths: Recognize the particular strengths and talents you leveraged in your past wins. Lean into and further develop those strengths to give you an advantage going forward.
Learn from mistakes: Even in your victories, there may have been missteps or areas for improvement. Reflect on these to avoid repeating the same issues and to continuously refine your approach.
Celebrate milestones: Commemorating your past successes can provide a sense of progress and momentum. This can reinforce the belief that you can achieve your future goals as well.
Inspire others: Sharing your stories of triumph can motivate and encourage those around you. Your experiences can serve as examples and inspiration for others.
Expand your network: Reconnect with the people who supported you in your past victories. Leveraging these relationships can open up new opportunities and resources for future endeavors.
Visualize success: Mentally rehearsing your past wins can help you envision achieving similar outcomes in the future. This can boost your mental preparation and performance.
Overcome fear: Recalling how you overcame obstacles and uncertainties in the past can help you confront new challenges with greater courage and resilience.
Maintain perspective: When facing setbacks, reflecting on your past victories can provide a sense of balance and remind you of your ability to persevere and succeed.
By drawing on the lessons and insights from your past wins, you can leverage that experience to your advantage and increase your chances of future success.
